NYS Certified Teacher: Jessica Albert

I am a writer and a teacher. I have a Masters Degree in Education and a Professional NYS Teaching Certificate. For 15 years, I have managed my own private tutoring business in the Hudson Valley of New York. I am continually researching new teaching methods, while concurrently incorporating Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Montessori methods of interactive learning into my teachings. I seek to engage students in the educative process through Socratic Discussion and I always encourage them to ask questions, no matter how small. I support students in their school work, research projects or study methods.

I also create curriculums based on a student’s interest and we work on these projects during the time between school assignments or during summer break. Past projects have included field research where students explore their own backyards and collect samples of seeds, flowers and leaves to create an exploratory journal. Other activities focus on a book of the student’s choice and an ongoing diorama or posterboard presentation we continue to create as we move through the story. The projects may vary, but it is always the student’s interest that remains at the center.
